If you are a small business owner looking to start a website to promote your business there are a variety of options to choose from.

If you have a larger budget for the project you can always hire a web designer to put things together for you.  While this option is the most expensive, it will provide you with a website that is highly customized for your needs (assuming you hire a good designer).

On the other hand, there is always the do-it-yourself option.  You actually can create a website with very little technical know-how by using one of the many site builder or content management systems (CMS) available.  The most popular CMS available is WordPress, and it is what we use for MapEmbed.com.  If you are unfamiliar with WordPress, there are a lot of good tutorials.  For our German readers we highly recommend the guide called blog erstellen to walk you through the basics of creating your first website or blog with WordPress.

In general, the do-it-yourself option is at least worth a shot, unless you know you need a very complicated site.  In the end, if you aren’t satisfied with what you create on your own, you can always hire a professional to finish the job for you.
